Terms of service

Effective August 28, 2026. Using pdfaccessibilitycheck.com or purchasing an assessment means you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose; the two that matter most are that automated checks have limits, and that the exemption triage is not legal advice.

The free scanner

The free checker and site scan are provided as-is, at no charge, for evaluation. They analyze the document you upload or the documents publicly linked on the domain you enter. You agree to scan only sites you are entitled to point us at — your own organization's, or publicly accessible government sites. Scans may be rate-limited or refused to keep the service available for everyone.

The paid assessment

The Document Accessibility Assessment is a one-time purchase, currently US$299, delivered by email as a written report covering the documents publicly linked on the domain you provide at checkout. Delivery is normally within two business days. If we cannot produce a useful report for your site — for example, because our crawler cannot reach your documents — we will tell you and refund the purchase in full. If the report is delivered and you are not satisfied, write to us within 14 days and we will refund it.

What an automated check can and cannot tell you

Automated analysis catches the problems a machine can detect: missing tags, absent image descriptions, undeclared language, untagged scans, unlabeled form fields. It cannot judge whether a reading order makes sense, whether a description is accurate, or whether a document is genuinely usable with a screen reader. A clean result means "nothing obvious is broken," not "this document is compliant."

Not legal advice

Reports sort documents against our reading of the ADA Title II rule, including its pre-existing content exception. That sorting is a technical triage to help you scope the work. It is not a legal determination, a compliance certification, or legal advice, and we are not a law firm. Decisions about what your organization must remediate belong to your attorney or compliance officer.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service or any report is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including claims by third parties against your organization.

Intellectual property

The report we deliver is yours to use, share and act on within your organization. The software, site content and guides remain ours.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date; changes do not apply retroactively to a purchase already made. Questions: reports@pdfaccessibilitycheck.com.
